With Downtown Bellingham just south and waterfront views and access to the west, Lettered Streets is an ideal location to call home. Known for having a charming, small-town feel, Lettered Streets has been transformed and revitalized over the last few decades. However, the streets have remained small and lightly-traveled, retaining the neighborhood’s homey old-town character.

Today you’ll find streets filled with lovingly maintained homes and gardens brimming with flowers, friendly residents from all walks of life, and of course, lettered street names that make navigation easy! Spend time in the beautiful outdoor scenery, and enjoy exploring small local businesses. Wanida Thai, Johnny’s Donuts, and Lettered Streets Coffeehouse are a few other local staples, and downtown’s myriad of options is just blocks away along trails that residents have used for centuries.

Broadway Park, Fouts Park, and neighborhood streets offer plenty of opportunity to run and play, while also providing the perfect setting for a picnic or get-together with neighbors. Being family-friendly, this neighborhood boasts a “tot-lot,” a special fenced playground for small children to run and explore in a safe environment, as well as Battersby Field for both organized and pickup sports games.

“The Lettered Streets is the residential heart of Bellingham. Adjacent to downtown, Lettered Streets residents are in walking distance of the waterfront, parks, great restaurants, and over nine breweries! The neighborhood is an intergenerational community, with young families, working class folks, students, and seniors. The lettered street names make for a memorable walking landscape and a sense of familiarity and connection amongst neighbors. Also, I joined the Lettered Streets Neighborhood Association board this month—less than a year after moving here—because I love this neighborhood so much.”
